Founded in 1944, Kia began as a maker of steel tubing and bicycle parts before moving into motorcycles and then cars, and is South Korea's oldest vehicle manufacturer. Part of the Hyundai Motor Group since 1998, the brand transformed itself through design, recruiting Peter Schreyer in 2006 and building a range known for sharp styling and strong value. Models such as the Telluride, Sportage and Soul, backed by one of the longest warranties in the industry, made Kia a mainstream favorite.
