LAND ROVER
A British marque founded in 1948, Land Rover builds luxurious four-wheel-drive vehicles with genuine off-road ability, led by the Range Rover.
Land Rover began in 1948 with the Series I, a utilitarian farm vehicle inspired by the wartime Jeep and built on an aluminum body because steel was scarce in post-war Britain. The 1970 Range Rover invented the luxury four-wheel drive, combining genuine off-road hardware with comfort nobody expected from the category. The Defender, Discovery and Range Rover remain the core of the range. Land Rover has been part of Jaguar Land Rover, owned by Tata Motors, since 2008.
